How to Replace Throttle Body On 2007 Ford Taurus?


The instructions are similar for 2006 and 2007 ford Taurus Car models.

Throttle Body
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  Details are as follows :---

3.0L (VIN S) Engine
WARNING
Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related components. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.


CAUTION
Throttle body bore and plate area have a special coating and cannot be cleaned.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
  3. Remove the pin-type retainers and the accelerator cable cover.
  4. Disconnect and unclip the accelerator and speed control cables.
  5. Remove the throttle return spring.
  6. Disconnect the wiring harness retainer from the throttle body mounting stud.
  7. Disconnect the Throttle Position (TPS) Sensor electrical connector.
  8. Remove the accelerator cable bracket and position aside.
  9. Disconnect the throttle body coolant feed and return hoses as follows:
    1. Push the connector toward the hose to release pressure.
    2. Press the coolant hose quick-release coupling button and pull the coolant hose to disconnect.
  10. Remove the bolts, stud bolt and the throttle body.
  11. Remove and discard the throttle body gasket.
  12. Clean and inspect the sealing surfaces.
    CAUTION
    Upon installation of the throttle body coolant feed and return hoses, make sure the tube clicks into place. Pull on the hose to verify seating.
  13. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Use a new throttle body gasket and tighten the bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).

3.0L (VIN U, 2) Engines
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  3. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
  4. Remove the pin-type retainers and the snow shield.
  5. Disconnect the accelerator cable, speed control cable and throttle return spring from the throttle body.
  6. Remove the bolts and position the accelerator cable bracket aside.
  7. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector.
  8. Remove the throttle body retaining bolts and remove the throttle body.
  9. Remove and discard the throttle body gasket.
  10. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  11. Clean all sealing surfaces and install a new throttle body gasket. Tighten the throttle body bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
