How to Replace Oil Pan On 2007 Ford Taurus?


The instructions are similar for 2006 and 2007 ford Taurus Car models.

Oil Pan
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Details are as follows :----
3.0L Engine
VIN S Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the right front inner wheel splash shield.
  4. Remove the dual converter Y-pipe.
  5. Secure the exhaust system and remove the jackstand.
  6. Drain the engine oil. Install and tighten the drain plug to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).
  7. Remove and discard the oil filter.
  8. Remove the bolts, nuts and the engine-to-transaxle bracket.
  9. Remove the torque converter inspection cover.
  10. Remove the 18 bolts and the oil pan.
To install:
  1. Clean all sealing surfaces on the engine and the oil pan with metal surface cleaner. Install a new gasket on the oil pan.
  2. Apply a 0.4 inch (10 mm) dot of silicone gasket and sealant to the front cover-to-cylinder block mating surface.

  3. Install a new gasket, position the oil pan and loosely install the bolts and the studs in the sequence illustrated.
  4. Install the oil pan to transaxle housing bolts and tighten to 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm).
  5. Tighten the oil pan bolts and studs in sequence to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).

  6. Tighten the oil pan-to-transaxle bolts to 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm).
  7. Install the torque converter inspection cover.
  8. Position the engine-to-transaxle bracket and install the nuts and the bolt. Tighten the bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm) and the nuts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  9. Lubricate the oil filter O-ring with clean engine oil and install the new oil filter.
  10. Position a jackstand and release the exhaust system.
  11. Install the dual converter Y-pipe.
  12. Install the front inner wheel splash shield.
  13. Install the exhaust manifold-to-pipe nuts and tighten to 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm).
  14. Fill the crankcase with clean engine oil.
VIN U, 2 Engines
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the bolts and engine roll restrictor.
  4. Remove the bolt, ground strap and nut.
  5. Remove the nuts from the front exhaust manifold.
  6. Remove the bolt from the rear upper manifold.
  7. Remove the nut and disconnect the ground strap electrical connector.
  8. Remove the nut and position the heat shield aside.
  9. Loosen the rear lower exhaust manifold bolt and position the Y-pipe aside.
  10. Remove the bolts and position the starter aside.
  11. Remove the bolt and the engine rear plate.
  12. Remove the oil pan drain plug and drain the engine oil.
  13. Install the drain plug when finished and tighten to 10 ft. lbs. (13 Nm).
  14. Remove the bolts and the oil pan.
  15. Remove the oil pan gasket from the oil pan.
  16. Using metal surface cleaner, clean the oil pan sealing surfaces.
To install:
  1. Install the oil pan gasket onto the oil pan.
    NOTE
    If the oil pan is not secured within four minutes, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with metal surface cleaner. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness or four minutes, whichever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure can cause future oil leakage.
  2. Apply a bead of silicone gasket and sealant in two places where the cylinder block meets the front cover and in two places where the rear main bearing cap meets the cylinder block.
    NOTE
    Make sure the fasteners are clean and dry prior to installation.

  3. Tighten the oil pan bolts in sequence to 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).

  4. Install the engine rear plate and the bolt.
  5. Position the starter and install the bolts.
  6. Position the Y-pipe and tighten the rear lower exhaust manifold bolt to 35 ft. lbs. (48 Nm).
  7. Position the heat shield and install the nut.
  8. Connect the ground strap electrical connector and install the nut.
  9. Install the bolt in the rear upper manifold tighten to bolt to 35 ft. lbs. (48 Nm).
  10. Install the nuts on the front exhaust manifold. Tighten to bolt to 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm).
  11. Install the nut, ground strap and bolt.
  12. Install the engine roll restrictor and the bolts. Tighten to bolt to 35 ft. lbs. (48 Nm).
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
  14. Fill the engine with clean engine oil.
  15. Start the engine and check for oil leaks around the oil pan
