How to replace Heater Core & Evaporator Core Housing on Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ & Mercury Milan?


The procedure is similar for both Ford, Lincoln and Mercury car models:----

The details to replace heater core housing and Evaporator core housing is as follows:----

Heater Core And Evaporator Core Housing   Removal & Installation procedure is as follows:----

  1. For 3.0L or 3.5L engines, remove the lower cowl panel grille.
    WARNING
    Only a MVAC-trained, EPA-certified, automotive technician should service the A/C system or its components.
  2. Recover the refrigerant, using the proper equipment.
  3. Drain the engine coolant.
  4. Remove the instrument panel, as outlined in this section.
  5. Disconnect the A/C pressure transducer electrical connector and detach the wire harness from the thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) stud.
  6. Remove the TXV fitting nut and disconnect the fitting.
  7. Discard the gasket seals.
  8. Release the heater hoses clamps and disconnect the hoses from the heater core
  9. Remove the 6 heater core and evaporator core housing nuts.
  10. Remove the heater core and evaporator core housing.

To install:
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure, noting the following:
    1. Tighten the heater core and evaporator core housing nuts to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
    2. Tighten the TXV fitting nut to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).
    3. Install new gasket seals.
    4. Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil.
    5. Fill the engine coolant level.
    6. Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system
