How to replace Ford Axle Assembly?


Axle Assembly
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Details are as follows :----


NOTE
If a twin post hoist is used, the vehicle must be supported on jackstands placed under the pads of the underbody, forward of the axle trailing arm bracket.

Raise and support the vehicle safely.
Remove the wheels.
Disconnect the parking brake cable and anti-lock brake speed sensor cable.
Disconnect and cap the brake hydraulic lines
Disconnect the shock absorber from the rear axle.
Slowly lower the rear axle assembly with a jack until the rear spring can be removed.
Remove the rear spring.
Support the front of the rear axle assembly with a jack.
Remove the trailing arm-to-chassis bolts.
Remove the rear axle assembly.

To install:

Position the rear axle assembly and install the trailing arm-to-chassis bolts. Tighten the bolts to 50-68 ft. lbs.(68-92 Nm).
Install the rear spring.
Slowly raise the rear axle assembly.
Connect the shock absorber to the rear axle. Tighten the bolts/nuts to 50-68 ft. lbs. (68-92 Nm).
Connect the brake hydraulic lines
Connect the parking brake cable and anti-lock brake speed sensor cable.
Install the wheels.
Lower the vehicle.
Bleed the brake system.
