How to replace Flexplate on Ford Fusion & Mercury Milan?

Flexplate (Driveplate)
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

The procedure is similar for both Ford, Lincoln and Mercury car models:----

2.3L Engine

Specific to:

Ford Fusion 2008-2009

Mercury Milan 2008-2009

1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
2. Remove the automatic transaxle, as outlined in the Drive Train Section.
3. Remove the 6 bolts and the flexplate.

To install:

NOTE

Special bolts are used for installation. Do not use standard bolts.

1. Install the flexplate and tighten the bolts in the sequence shown in 3 stages:
   
   
   Step 1: Tighten to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm)

   Step 2: Tighten to 59 ft. lbs. (80 Nm)

   Step 3: Tighten to 83 ft. lbs. (112)

2. Install the automatic transaxle, as outlined in the Drive Train Section.

3.0L & 3.5L Engines

Specific to:

Ford Fusion 2008-2009

Lincoln MKZ 2008-2009

Mercury Milan 2008-2009

1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
2. Remove the transaxle, as outlined in the Drive Train Section.
3. Remove the bolts and the flexplate.
   
   NOTE

   One of the 8 flexplate holes are offset so the flexplate can only be installed in one position.
4. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Tighten the flexplate bolts to 59 ft. lbs. (80 Nm).
