Acura Wheel Bearings Replacement and Adjustment?


Wheel Bearings
ADJUSTMENT
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION


The details are as follows :----

Adjustment



The wheel bearings are sealed units and are not adjustable.

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Rear wheel
    Brake hose bracket mounting bolts from the trailing arm and the knuckle
    Brake caliper
    Wheel speed sensor
    Spindle nut
    Brake rotor
    Upper ball joint
    Lower arm (A)
    Lower arm (B) from the trailing arm
  3. Support the lower arm (B)

    Steering knuckle
  4. Press the hub out of the wheel bearing.

    Splash guard
    Snapring and press the wheel bearing out of the steering knuckle
  5. If necessary, press the inner bearing race off of the hub.

To install:

NOTE
Use a new ball joint nut, split pin, snapring and spindle nut for assembly.

  1. Press the bearing into the steering knuckle and install the snapring.
  2. Install the splash guard.
  3. Press the hub into the bearing.
  4. Install or connect the following:

    Steering knuckle. Tighten the flange bolt to 54 ft. lbs. (74 Nm) and the lower shock nut to 47 ft. lbs. (64 Nm)
    Lower arm (B) to the trailing arm and tighten the bolts to 47 ft. lbs. (64 Nm)
    Lower arm (A)
    Upper ball joint and tighten the nut to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm)
    Brake rotor and tighten the screws to 7 ft. lbs. (9 Nm)
    Spindle nut and tighten to 181 ft, lbs. (245 Nm)
    Wheel speed sensor
    Brake caliper and tighten the bolts to 41 ft. lbs. (55 Nm)
    Brake hose bracket mounting bolts to the knuckle and trailing arm
    Rear wheel
  5. Check the wheel alignment and adjust as necessary.
