How to remove Parking Brake Cable on Acura Integra?

The procedure is as follows :---


REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Except 3.5RL

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Fully release the parking brake lever.
  3. Loosen the output cable adjuster nut from the parking brake cable tension equalizer. This will relieve tension from the parking brake cables allowing for easy removal.
  4. On Integra models, remove the lock and clevis pin.

  1. Installation is the reversal of the removal procedure.
3.5RL
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the parking brake switch connector.
  3. With the parking brake released, disconnect the parking brake cable from the pedal.
  4. Remove the parking brake pedal assembly from the vehicle by removing the mounting bolts.
  5. Remove the parking brake shoes.
  6. Remove the parking brake cable from the backing plate. Use a 12mm offset wrench as shown.

To install:
  1. Install the parking brake cable into the backing plate.
  2. Install the parking brake shoes.
  3. Install the parking brake pedal assembly.
  4. Attach the parking brake cable to the pedal assembly.
  5. Install the parking brake switch connector.
  6. Connect the battery cable.
Adjustment Integra, CL, and TL Models
  1. Pull the parking brake with moderate force. This should position it six to ten notches up.
  2. To adjust the parking brake, begin by raising the vehicle.
  3. Properly support the vehicle.
  4. Check that the parking brake arm on the rear brake caliper is contacting the brake caliper pin.
  5. Pull the parking brake lever handle up one notch.
  6. Remove the rear console.
  7. Turn the adjusting nut until the wheels just begin to drag.
  8. Release the parking brake lever and check that the brakes do not drag when the wheels are spun.
  9. Install the rear console.
3.5RL and Vigor
  1. Raise and properly support the vehicle.
  2. Check to ensure that the lever of the rear brake caliper contacts the caliper pin.
  3. Advance the parking brake lever or pedal one notch.
  4. Lift up the console door.
  5. Remove the console bottom liner.
  6. Using a flexible extension and socket assembly turn the adjusting nut on the equalizer.
  7. Tighten until the wheels drag slightly when turned.
  8. Release the parking brake lever or pedal and check that the wheels do not drag excessively when turned.

WARNING
Overtightening the parking brake may cause the brakes to drag causing excessive heat build up and brake failure.

  1. If the parking brake is properly adjusted the rear brakes will be fully applied when the parking brake lever is pulled 7-11 notches for Vigor, or the pedal is depressed 6-8 clicks on the 3.5RL.
  2. Lower the vehicle.
Legend
The rear brakes should be engaged when a force of 44lbs. (200Nm) is applied to the parking brake lever. It should engage the brakes between eight to twelve notches.
  1. Remove the rear cover from the console.
  2. Pull the parking lever up one notch.
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4. Tighten until the wheels drag slightly when turned.
  5. Release the parking brake lever and check that the wheels do not drag excessively when turned.

WARNING
Overtightening the parking brake may cause the brakes to drag causing excessive heat build up and brake failure.

  1. If the parking brake is properly adjusted the rear brakes will be fully applied when the parking brake lever is pulled eight to twelve notches.
  2. Install the rear console.
  3. Install the wheels.
  4. Lower the vehicle.
